Spain Certificate Attestation
Spanish Documents Attestation for UAE
When documents are issued in Spain and need to be used in the UAE, they must undergo a specific attestation process to be legally recognized. Spain is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, which simplifies the legalization process for use in many countries. However, the UAE is not a member of this convention, meaning the apostille alone is not sufficient for documents issued in Spain. They require additional verification and attestation.
Why is Spanish Document Attestation Necessary?
Spanish documents, especially those in their original language (Spanish), cannot be directly used in the UAE without being properly attested. This process involves verifying the authenticity of the document through several stages, ensuring that it is recognized and accepted by UAE authorities. The documents may also need to be translated into English or Arabic, depending on the requirements in the UAE.
Process of Attestation for Spanish Documents
- Notarization by a Notary or Ministry of Education (Spain): The first step involves having the document notarized. For educational certificates, this could be done through the Ministry of Education in Spain. For other types of documents, a local notary public may handle the notarization process.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Spain) or Apostille: After notarization, the document must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Spain. In some cases, an apostille is used if the document is being sent to a country that accepts apostilles. However, for the UAE, apostille alone is not sufficient.
- UAE Embassy in Madrid: Once the document has been authenticated by Spanish authorities, it needs to be super legalized at the UAE Embassy in Madrid. This step ensures that the document is officially recognized for use in the UAE.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UAE): Finally, after the UAE Embassy in Madrid has attested the document, it must be legalized by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is the final step to ensure that the document can be legally used in the UAE for various purposes like employment, education, or legal matters.
Translation of Documents
In many cases, documents issued in Spain will need to be translated into English or Arabic before or after the attestation process. This translation must be completed by a certified translator to meet the legal requirements of UAE authorities.
